Park County School District #16 (hereafter referred to as District) has actively pursued making advanced technology and increased access to learning opportunities available to our students. It is the District's expectation that all students must understand and practice proper and ethical use of all technology services provided by the District.
Conditions and Rules of Use
Acceptable Use:
The District provides devices, services, and internet access to students in order to promote student learning and educational collaboration. In order for students to be eligible to receive these services all use must be supportive of and consistent with the educational objectives of the District. Every user is expected to comply with all the rules present in this document.
Privilege:
The use of District technology equipment and services is a privilege not a right. Any violation of the rules and responsibilities presented in this document can result in the loss of privileges as deemed appropriate by the District Administration.
Monitoring:
Users have no expectation of privacy for any data residing on District owned equipment or passing through District provided services. The District has the right to review any data residing on or passing through District equipment.
No Warranties:
The District is not responsible for any damages resulting from disruption of services or student misuse. There is no warranty or guarantee on the delivery of services or data obtained over these services.
Digital Citizenship:
All students are expected to abide by the generally accepted rules of digital citizenship. These include but are not limited to the following:
• Be polite in all your digital interactions and show respect to other digital users.
• Use appropriate language.
• Do not engage in activities that are prohibited by Wyoming for Federal Law.
• Do not take actions that would cause disruptions of District provided services.
• Know and follow Copyright and fair use guidelines and respect intellectual property.
• Don't cause damage or loss to another user's work or files.
Banned Information:
Students shall not be in possession of any education inappropriate or illegal data. Students shall not inappropriately use copyrighted material for any purpose.
Harassment/Cyberstalking:
Cyberstalking is the prolonged and repeated use of abusive behaviors online (a "course of conduct") intended "to kill, injure, harass, intimidate, or place under surveillance with intent to kill, injure, harass, or intimidate" the victim [See: 18 U.S. Code§ 2261A].
All students are expected to not engage in harassment/cyberstalking and report any violations they witness to the District Administration.
Encounter of Controversial Material:
Students are expected not attempt to access any controversial, inappropriate, or offensive material on any District provided network service or device. They are required to report any such material that is accessed inadvertently or by another student.
Security:
The security of the District network is the responsibility of all users. Students should treat network security as a high priority. They will not install any applications or make use of any internet sites in an attempt to work around the District's security systems, including internet content filtering. They will not install any applications that allow them to access off site servers or services without first gaining permission of the District.
Students are not allowed to join their personal devices to any network except the open guest network. Students are not allowed to log into any District owned device or service using any username or password other than their own. If students become aware of a security issue they are to immediately report the issue to District personnel.
Penalties for Improper Use:
Students and their parents are financially responsible for any intentional or unintentional damage to computer devices or services. Including introduction of malicious software into the District network. Violations of any section of this contract will result in loss or curtailing of privileges as outlined in the Meeteetse Schools' Student Handbook. Any violations of Wyoming or Federal law could result in legal action.
REQUIRED SIGNATURES
I understand and will abide by the provisions and conditions of this contract. I understand that any violation may result in disciplinary action as outlined in the Meeteetse Schools' Student Handbook. I agree to report any violations I witness.
