Student Health Services
The Superintendent or their designee shall be responsible for implementing and monitoring the administration of district health services. A student's parent/legal guardian will be notified of a change in a student's educations, physical, mental, or emotional health or well-being as defined in Policy KB-Wyoming Parental Rights Act. Please see attached list of routine healthcare that parents will and will and will not be notified on.
Wyoming State Statute requires the District to implement protocols to address the risks associated with concussions and head injuries. In adherence with state statue, opting out of health services and not opting into health screening tools and well-being questionnaires may limit a student's extracurricular opportunities.
Health Services
Categories (example include, but are not limited to):
- Illness Assessment: vital signs, review of symptoms, physical assessment, chronic disease care, communicable disease assessment
- Injury Assessment: vital signs, review of symptoms, physical assessment, first aid
- Wellness Assessment: Lice, oral health, hygiene, incontinence, spills, nutrition, clothing, physical assessment
- Mental Health Assessment: panic attacks, self-harm, bullying, vital signs, physical assessment, mental health assessment
Health Screenings
Routine screening procedures for hearing, vision, and other health-related issues as may be deemed necessary or as required by state or federal law.
Special Health Examinations
The District may request that students obtain a health examination by a licensed healthcare provider and provide evidence of such in situations where there is a concern regarding the student's health.
Emergency Services
First aid is the immediate help given by the best-qualified person at hand in case of an accident, sudden illness, or mental health crisis. The District's obligation continues after the emergency until the injured person has been released to the parent/legal guardian or an emergency facility.
Student Health Services
OPT-OUT FORM
Parent/legal guardian have the right to withhold consent (opting out) for participation in health services. If you consent to the health services above, no action is needed.
